Wil je graag meer leren over onderwjs in Europa, en het huidige systeem op een kritische manier analyseren, kom dan naar het “European Education Congress” van 1-6 Juni 2010 in Bochum, Duitsland. Activisten uit heel Europa zullen daar met elkaar spreken over onder andere de commercialisatie van het onderwijs, de sociale ongelijkheid die hier uit voortkomt, en hoe we dit tegen kunnen gaan. Oproep voor het europese onderwijs-congres 2010

Geplande datum 1-6 Juni.Het congres staat open voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in onderwijs, en hangt af van ieders bijdrage. Om een brede discussie te hebben gedurende die vijf dagen, zouden we graag van zoveel mogelijk mensen oproepen hebben voor het Education Congress.Voor ons is onderwijs een voorwaarde voor participatie in sociale processen. Het huidige onderwijssysteem is echter in veel aspecten niet in staat om het mensen mogelijk te maken om sociale interrelaties te begrijpen en om een volwassen deel uit te maken van sociale veranderingen. Alleen als iedereen meedoet kan zich een samenleving ontwikkelen die het meest vrijheid garandeert voor iedereen, en dus ook het breedst gedragen zal worden. Tegelijkertijd komen we tot de conclusie dat wereldwijd gratis onderwijs voor iedereen voorlopig als doel buiten ons bereik geraakt is. Het onderwijssysteem wordt overal blootgesteld aan verscheidene hervormingen. Het is tijd om deze veranderingen te analyseren, vooral ook in de context van de hele samenleving, en om alternatieven te ontwikkelen voor de status quo.

Daarom willen we samen dicussieren over de volgende vragen:

Wat voor functies hebben school- en hoger onderwijssystemen in verscheidene europese landen en streken?
Wat houdt “self determined” leven en leren in?
Hoe kunnen we gratis toegang tot onderwijs voor iedereen bewerkstelligen?
Hoe staan de samenleving en het onderwijs tot elkaar in verhouding?
Creëren hogere onderwijsinstellingen sociale ongelijkheid, en hoe kunnen we dit tegen gaan?
Hoe kunnen we democratische, “self determined” structuren creëren op scholen en in het hogere onderwijs?
Wat is commercialisatie van het onderwijs, watvoor invloed hebben bedrijven op dit proces, en hoe kunnen we deze invloed doorbreken?
Hoe en met welk doel kan trans-europese solidariteit bewerkstelligd worden?

Met dit congres wille we een Europese uitwisseling van ideëen op gang brengen en de context van onderwijs en samenleving analyseren.We willen aandacht geven aan het beslissingsproces van de samenleving om een democratisering te bewerkstelligen. Dus, voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in onderwijs en onderwijs-beleid: Kom naar het European Education Congress van 1 tot 6 juni 2010 op de Ruhr-universiteit in Bochum, Duitsland.

We nodigen je uit om vijf dagen met ons door te brengen, terwijl we het europese onderwijssysteem en haar functies kritisch analyseren. Laten we nadenken over de betekennis van goed onderwijs, wat de voorwaarden van een progressief onderwijssysteem zijn, en welke wegen naar zo’n zysteem zouden kunnen leiden. Dit zullen we doen gebruik makende van verschillende methodes, zoals workshops, plenaire vergaderingen, lezingen, panel discussies en concrete ervaringen. Alle steunende personen en groepen wordt gevraagd om zelf zulke activiteiten te organiseren, om teksten te produceren, en om bij te dragen aan het congres. Tegelijkertijd zal er genoeg tijd zijn om ervaringen van individuele landen en streken uit te wisselen, en voor internationaal netwerken om verdere zamenwerking mogelijk te maken.

I. Over het Congres

Ten eerste: alhoewel het congres “European Education Congress”heet, willen we benadrukken dat activisten uit niet europese landen ook nadrukkelijk uitgenodigt zijn om ook mee te doen.

Het congres wordt opgezet door verschillende activisten die betrokken zijn in de gratis-onderwijs-beweging in Duitsland. Het wordt financieel ondersteund door studentenorganisaties van verschillende universiteiten. Op dit moment raken een toenemend aantal activisten uit andere landen zoals Frankrijk en Spanje betrokken bij de organisatie. Op het “European Education Congress” zouden we graag spreken over onderwijssystemen vannuit een theoretisch oogpunt, onze ervaring met land-specifieke problemen delen, gemeenschappelijke alternatieven en hun implementaties ontwikkelen, en de ruimte gebruiken om te netwerken. Iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in onderwijs is uitgenodigt om mee te doen met het “European Education Congress”van 1 tot 6 juni 2010 op de Ruhr universiteit in Bochum, Duitsland.

Call for the European Education Congress 2010

slated date: 1^st to 6^th of June

The congress is open to all people who are interested in education and depends on everyone to contribute to it. In order to have a wide discussion during those five days, we would like calls from as many people as possible for the Education Congress.

To us, education is a precondition for participating in social processes. However, the current educational system is in many aspects not able to enable people to understand social interrelations and to empower them to a mature taking part in social changes. But only if everyone participates, a society can develop which guarantees the most broad level of freedom for all individuals and thus finds the most broad level of acceptance.

At the same time we come to the conclusion, that the goal of establishing free education for everyone worldwide seems to have moved out of reach for some time to come. The educational system is cross-nationally exposed to different reforms. It is time to analyze these changes, especially in context to the whole of society, and to develop alternatives to the status quo.

Therefore we want to discuss together: What functions do school systems and systems of higher education have in different European countries and regions? What does self determined living and learning mean? How can we establish free access to education for everyone? How are educational system and society related to one another? Do institutions of higher education produce social inequality and how could this inequality be broken? How can we establish democratic, self determined structures at schools and institutions of higher education? What is commercialization of education, what influence do commercial enterprises have in this process and how can this influence be broken? How and for what aim can European-wide solidarity be established?

This congress should facilitate a Europe-wide exchange, analyzing the context of education and society. We want to give attention to decision-making processes of society to establish a democratization of society.

Thus, for everyone interested in education and education policy: Come to the European Education Congress from the 1^st to 6^th of June 2010 at the Ruhr-University in Bochum!

We invite you to spend five days with us, analyzing the current educational system and its functions critically. Let us think about the meaning of good education, what the requirements of a progressive educational system are and which paths could lead to such a system. This will be done in different methods of learning such as workshops, plenary meetings, lectures, panel discussions and concrete experiences. All supporting persons and groups are called to bring in such activities of their own, to introduce texts and to contribute to the congress. At the same time there will be enough time to exchange experiences from single countries and regions and for international networking to enable further cooperation.

I. About the Congress

First of all: although it is called “European Education Congress”, we want to emphasize that activists from any other parts of the world are explicitly invited to join it as well.

The congress was initiated by various activists involved in the free education movement in Germany. It is being financially supported by student representative bodies of different universities. At this stage an increasing number of activists in other countries such as France and Spain are getting involved in the organization. At the “European Education Congress”, we would like to to talk about the education systems from a theoretical point of view, share our experiences with “country-specific” problems and develop common alternatives and their implementation, as well as use the space to network. All people interested in education are welcome to join the “European Education Congress” on ^st to 6^th June 2010 at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany.
