We vertellen over de NoBorder Camps in Lesvos en Calais, over het Klimaat Actie Kamp op de Nederlands- Belgische grens, en de G8 studentenprotesten in Italië. Mensen die betrokken zijn bij de organisatie van deze protesten komen vertellen wat ze gaan doen en hoe je betrokken kunt raken. 23-29 Juni – The Calais No Border camp

The Calais No Border camp is a joint venture between French and Belgian activists and migrant support groups and the UK No Borders Network. It aims to highlight the realities of the situation in Calais and Northern France; to build links with the migrant communities; to help build links between migrants support groups; and lastly, but not least, to challenge the authorities on the ground, to protest against increased repression of migrants and local activists alike.

8-10 Juli – G8, L’Aquila, Italië

Voor het eerst sinds de massale en bloedig neergeslagen protesten tegen de G8 in Genua, zal Italië weer de ‘gastheer’ voor de topconferentie zijn. Berlusconi heeft het besluit genomen de plek van de top te verplaatsen van een afgelegen eiland naar het hart van het land. Balkenende is ook uitgenodigd en om demonstranten het leven zuur te maken, wordt het Schengen-verdrag opgeschort.

Van Van 8-10 juli wordt de G8-top in Italië gehouden. Oorspronkelijk stond deze gepland in een Amerikaanse marinebasis op een onbereikbaar eilandje bij Sardinië. Berlusconi heeft besloten om de top te verplaatsen naar L’Aquila in de regio Abruzzi op het vasteland, ten oosten van Rome, waar in april een krachtige aardbeving toesloeg. 3-9 Augustus – Klimaat Actie Kamp

A week long Climate Camp will take place on the Dutch/Belgian border from 3-9 August 2009. We aim to bring together hundreds of people to take action against climate change, share knowledge and experiences, and live practical solutions. Everyone is invited to get involved and start organising NOW! Get involved building this emerging movement committed to radical change.

25-31 Augustus – The Lesvos No Border camp

Repression has no place on our boat ….. In the last few years the island of Lesvos has represented one of the main entrance gates for thousands of refugees and migrants seeking to reach Europe. Packed in tiny plastic boats they try to cross the sea border between Turkey and Greece but some of them can’t make it. More than 1.100 migrants and refugees have lost their lives that way in Aegean sea the last 20 years. The Lesvos No Border camp is a collaboration of Greek and Turkish activists. One of their aims is to highlight the harsh border control activities of Frontex* in this region.
